WHY I NOW GROOM MY FINNEGAN AT HOME

Is that a rabbit I see up there?  Do you want me to catch it for you?

v  I love my dog.
v  I finally have my own grooming table.
v  He is finally comfortable in the bathtub if mommy is in there with him.
v  He now tolerates being bathed at home.
v  It gives us bonding time and builds trust.
v  I am getting another dog, and the cost of getting two of these long haired beauties groomed is prohibitive.
v  He got a bad infection, according to my vet, most likely caused by a shear while being cut (which can sometimes happen at the best of groomers.)
v  He suffered horribly with pain, itching and the medication he needed for a week and me and my husband didn’t sleep more than 4 hours the entire week.
v  I can’t trust anyone else; I love him so much and never, ever want to see him in pain again, if I can avoid it.
v  A wonderful woman is going to help me with proper lessons on this grooming, referral to a video and book and I feel much more confident than I did when I first got him as a puppy last year.

About Me

Patabit
Tucson, Arizona, United States
Life is bits and pieces of this and that. Sharing your experience helps us to connect with each other. No matter what load we each carry, no matter our past, no matter what we wish to change, if we share it, we will never be alone. We are in it together in the bits and pieces that make up the daily comings of goings of our life. Who knows what you know? You may have an answer for me, a fresh take and I may have just the word you near to hear today. Sometimes we just need to laugh at ourselves and each other.

Havanese Puppy Rules

I just might do anything if you turn your back a
minute, I very smart, but a risk taker.

I have my own way of playing
catch. Get with it.

I will put everything in my mouth and try to eat
it, even if it tastes icky.

I want to eat anything I see you eat
whether I am hungry or not.

I want to eat anything another dog is
eating, even if I just discarded it.

I may throw up something, but I
will try it again if given a chance.

I may or may not eat dog food –
depends on my mood
at any given moment.

I will unroll the toilet
paper, drag and chew until it’s all over your bathroom.

I will eat any
paper you leave out, I love paper. I don’t discriminate between paper towels
and your marriage license. It’s all paper to me.

I don’t see why
eating dried prickly pear pods are a problem. The scary parts you are terrified
of just makes it that much more exciting. So does you pulling it out of my
mouth.

I want you and your attention most of all, all the
time.

I follow you everywhere for your own safety.

I want
to do it all with you. Go to the stove, I’m with you. Moving to the sink? I’m
right there with you. Oh, we’re going to open the refrigerator, I’ll help you
check the contents.
Now its laundry time, I’m right at the machine too. Now
we go to the office, me too.

Do not spend too much time reading the
paper or playing with your computer, I will let you know when you are
done.

I won’t mean to trip you but I need to stay close, so watch
where you’re going.

Everything is my birthright.

Every toy
is mine including your hats, shoes and magazines.

Your furniture mine and
I will make myself comfortable, accordingly.

I will help you by laying
on any new towel, rug or blanket you bring home, to properly christen
it.

I love you, I love you, and I love them. I love your friends,
family, dogs, cats and neighbors.

I will bestow kisses on you and if I
can, will definitely try putting my tongue in your mouth, nose and ears…be
forewarned.

I love to watch rabbits. I will chase them the moment I
see one.

I love watching birdies, but no longer chase them; I guess
they can jump higher.

I enjoy rolling in grass, dirt and sand, kicking
it up and will roll in bird doo too if I can.

I do not like the feel
of wet dirt, rocks and sidewalk, so may refuse to walk outside if it is
raining.

I smile. I know how to schmooze. I got the sad puppy dog
look down. You will fall for it.

I will charm you and others. If I
can get my way, I will.

I like learning new stuff and tricks, but
need a little goodie or toy for incentive.

I pick up on your mood.
If you sick, I lay with you. If you sad or hurt, I lick you.

If you
dance, I dance with you.

If you run, I run...but I prefer you chase
me
